Not buying Git Up Git2 Pro ? – A very Bad Idea!

This is not a first impression view of the Git Up Git2 Pro but also a real time comprehensive analysis (which will be periodically updated) that has been procured from authorized vendor Actioncams for its value as listed on their website. As you can see above it is an orange paneled sports action camera loaded with a 16 MP Sony Exmor IMX206 sensor that promises to deliver the “Goods” after about ten days of using this camera for now I can say it was a “Very Bad Idea” (This phrase of course been inspired from POP legend MJ’s BAD) from the very thought of it.

For almost the price of a mid range smart phone I keeled over and purchased the Git Up Git2 Pro and unboxed the package to find the contents with the camera and some goodies courtesy While unboxing I also found all the standard accessories as per the contents list. Took a few trial videos and was also quite satisfied with what it showed. But then came the real test, the open roads that awaited its arrival.

I got hooked on to Gitup from the very first instance when I tested the Gitup Git1 before its formal launch. Not willing to contain myself with my opinion I sought a second opinion from a fellow rider and here is what he had to say about it and i could but agree to what he had to say…

GitUp Git 1 is a decent camera for Rs.9,500

You get a 12 megapixels sensor which is enough to record some pretty scenes.

The camera has a time-lapse option, which I found very useful.

The battery backup is pretty well. I got a footage of one and a half hour while continuous recording.

The design is slim, unlike SJ Cam which is very bulky.

The camera lacks the image stabilisation so the footage is shaky. But for the price being paid, you cannot get the GoPro hero 5 quality.

The viewing angle is a bit lesser than 170 degrees.

Overall I would rate it a 3.5/5

Now coming back to the Gitup Git2 Pro, the camera in 1 word cannot be described but indeed is a bad idea should you not give this a look before you buy anything else. It is the sport action camera equivalent of a middle weight chiseled out fighter that takes on any goliath in its class and for shelling out a few thousand more rather than buying an online sold device to suit your pocket it gives you not just 2K video but also the capability and confidence to venture into the dark of the night. Time of the day and territory is no constraint for this gadget has not only conquered the night but also allowed for a quick night time timelapse video to be transferred via its proprietary mobile app to the smartphone and uploaded on youtube. All I did when i reached home was share the link.

The tests will take time and will be shared directly on Youtube on an ongoing basis along with the resolution at which it was captured. To sums up that camera it has a very easy to use feature rich interface that delivers great value for every cent and is a BAD IDEA for it is bound to give sleepless nights to the already established players from the Js to the pros.

Disclaimer: While you wonder if there was a PRICE or deal made to explicitly talk positive about the product. After understanding the action camera market and testing various other work horses in the sub 20,000 category the Gitup series became a favorite because of its flickable interface and night time recording prowess.

Dirtsack Shellsack – One Hell of a Sack!

For the number of items we are consuming you may think that we are being paid by the manufacturer, but then again if you are hanging out at your regular chai tapri and invite friends who also bring their friends to share  the brew from the same cauldron that kicks in a fresh dose of energy with every sip, whats the harm? After all, good things are best when shared right? While the Neo forester replaced the traditional Backpack it also had a lot of “empty time”. Whenever the bag was empty I had to carry its weight and with an average range of 100 kms a day. This called for a solution – The Shellsack.

The Shellsack incidentally, was an impromptu purchase made from JP’s store – Open Road when I went to take a few pictures of the 2017 version of the DG 3 –HYDRATION AND UTILITY VEST. In discussion I requested for a demo of the shellsack and JP was kind enough allow a trial fit using my helmet. In went the helmet and out came the print from their card machine. For all of 950/- it may not seem justifiable however when you are talking a walk after your short ride to wherever (be it a stroll in the mall or around your ride destination) the helmet is snugly perched inside, don’t bother about your gloves just place them in the helmet and you are good to go.

In fact on a recent ride from Pune to Mumbai I carried the bag instead of bolting it onto the bike. Travelling on a weekday only to return to Pune on a sunday night with over 400 kilometers travelled in Mumbai city, suburbs and highway gave a brief insight as to what this could carry. Speaking of which they also give your a VISOR COVER (included in the cost of the bag) so that you can carry a spare visor for your journey, just in case you want to. Also the Shellsack has a net within to keep a few knick knacks like chargers, cables, batteries and also actions cameras securely while accommodating the “shell”.
