Nilesh Sane: WingManX App – Where the ride never ends! Pune based serial entrepreneur set out to create a product unlike anything else that his mainstream business calls for. A product for motorcyclists like himself where he can connect with like minded people and them with him. Going beyond just a riding app, WingmanX endeavours to be more..
Tell us about yourself – education, automotive-related skills, car/motorcycling experience.
I’m Nilesh Sane, the Founder and CEO of WingManX. My journey began with an IT background, where I built my career as a technocrat and serial entrepreneur over 25 years. When it comes to motorcycles, though, it’s a pure passion. I’m a proud member of PBR, RAPIDS and ROK – Riders of Kawasaki, which has taken me on some amazing rides, each one teaching me something new about the road and the camaraderie of biking. Whether it’s in the garage or out on the open road, I’ve learned the value of safety, preparedness, and the thrill of a well-tuned machine.
Nilesh Sane: WingManX App – how did you get into creating the app?
The idea for WingManX is drawn from my own experiences as a rider. I struggled to find a single app that let me both join and create rides within a trusted community of bikers. Existing apps didn’t really understand what riders needed—there was no reliable way to:
- Connect with others
- Curate rides or
- ensure safety
So, I decided to build it myself. I wanted WingManX to be a space where riders could:
Easily find like-minded people
Plan group rides and
Foster a culture of responsible riding.
Also, seeing similar frustrations among my riding buddies confirmed that this was an idea worth pursuing.
Life before turning a Motopreneur (work/employment)
Before WingManX, I was deep in the IT world, working with top-tier companies, gaining expertise in domains like healthcare, logistics, and e-learning. I founded other tech ventures too, and through these, I learned the ropes of building and scaling digital platforms. My passion for mentorship also led me to guide fresh graduates in building strong career paths, which I still do whenever I get the chance. My goal has always been about creating value, whether it’s through technology or personal connections.
Nilesh Sane: WingManX App – The All Spark inspiration
The inspiration for WingManX came from my own frustrations as a rider. I couldn’t find a good app that allowed me to both join and create rides with a community I could trust. Most options out there were missing that rider-centric mindset and didn’t offer a way to reliably connect with like-minded bikers for safe, organized group rides.
So, I decided to build WingManX myself. I wanted to create a platform that would make it easy for riders to find genuine ride companions, plan rides with ease, and promote a culture of safe riding. After hearing about similar challenges within my riding circles, I knew it was time to bring this vision to life.
Nilesh Sane: WingManX App – Spanner in the works
One big challenge was nailing the user experience. A biker app needs to be as intuitive as shifting gears—smooth and responsive. But building that requires balancing tech and real-world riding insights, which wasn’t easy. I took a unique approach by doing user testing with actual riders and making improvements based on real feedback. Another challenge? Convincing people that this app is here to stay and evolve with the community. But I kept going, gathering riders’ input, and we’ve slowly but surely earned that trust.
Beast Mode – A memorable feat/achievement/anecdote of your venture
A memorable moment was our first big test event at the Pune Kartdrome. Seeing riders come together, using the app to coordinate, and enjoying themselves in a safe, controlled environment was fantastic. It showed the potential of WingManX to foster real connections and create safer riding spaces. Another big win has been building a small yet loyal community that genuinely benefits from the app, from finding reliable riding partners to organizing epic group rides.
My way to the highway – Future plans (what your audience can look forward to with regards to the product)
Looking ahead, WingManX will be rolling out some exciting features, like in-depth ride analysis, enhanced social elements, and safety-based rewards for responsible riding. We also plan to have a marketplace where goods are not only sold but also exchanged. We’re working on collaborations to bring verified experts onto the app, where riders can learn directly from the best. We’re also exploring track day partnerships, allowing riders to hone their skills in safe, controlled environments. Our goal is to build an app that not only supports the riding community but actively promotes responsible, enjoyable, and safe motorcycling.
Advice to Budding Motopreneurs who want to get into building an app
My advice? Start with a genuine love for riding and a deep understanding of the community. Building a biker app is not just about coding; it’s about getting out there, joining rides, and understanding what real riders need. Listen to feedback—good and bad—and never lose sight of the fact that this is for the riders. And don’t forget, persistence is key. If you believe in the product and stick with it, the community will recognize that dedication.
