Solace Riding Jeans 1st impression review – it’s all in Genes?

The Solace Riding Jeans is indeed the least of riding gear that I thought would go onboard so soon. Afterall, a short breakfast ride with under 120 kilometers done. Can that be enough to talk about a product? Today, getting the right pair of riding denims is easier said than done. Some of you would say, big deal. Just walk into a store and get one or order online. But then again, unlike a riding pant denims go a level up here.

The current sets of riding denims are over 5 years old with an uncountable number of kilometres clocked. Without a doubt, 3 sets of Cafe Racer Denims used for rides over all these years is commendable. With time we all come to the end of our “Shelf Life”.The search for the right replacement began post pandemic.

Yes, competing with the standards and expectations the cafe racer  denims set made it difficult to select one. this for one of the following reasons:

• Not adequate protection
• Lack of comfort
• Price tag didn’t justify itself

After sifting the market with a magnifying glass, quite literally I came across the Solace GRAVEL Motorcycle Denims. Like most of the other denims, these too had almost the same form factor and protection that other leading brands have on offer. However, filtering the right pair of denims down to a colour is a daunting task. Black colour denims currently are hard to find. Add to this, the right fit.

After a telephonic conversation and a visit to the dealership I tried the denims. Interestingly, the Solace riding jeans fit like regular denims. More like the pair that I was wearing when I made that visit. This was the hook factor that prompted the purchase.

Currently, Pune as a city is going through a different weather situation. Cool and pleasant mornings and as much uncomfortably hot afternoons. This is a place where fit needs priority over functionality. Yes, the purani jeans still has more fight that we can assume. However, this is the right time to bring a new player into the proving grounds.

Having said this, we took the denims on its first outing to the mecca of motorcycling – Lavasa. Quiet surroundings, lack of the urban hustle-bustle makes the ride to Lavasa a fun journey. The motorcycle friendly corners are a cherry on the cake. Yes, the roads aren’t as smooth as its were in its heydays. These elements make it the perfect premise for a first impression review.

• The Angle for the cross pocket to accommodate the Pro version smartphones
• Alternatively add a zipper so that it becomes a designated pocket for valuables
• Comfort or straight fit options, probably as made to order could be offered as a premium
• Some riders look for reflective accents, that while not necessary could be a option
• Box /cargo pocket options, just the way in regular riding pants
